Very often, people will come into New Life Aesthetics and point to a particular skin problem or signs of aging they are most frustrated with and ask us: “Which treatment can fix THIS?”
Sometimes, the answer is simple, and we can point to one treatment that will work perfectly to address the concern. Very rarely, though, is one treatment enough to meet a patient’s specific needs or goals when it comes to skin care and anti-aging.
Let’s look at a specific example that we see quite often: most of us refer to it as a “turkey neck.” As you might have guessed, there is no one single procedure that can fix this over your lunch hour. Most patients would need a combination of skin tightening plus filler in the chin and/or jawline, plus fat reduction with Kybella or Coolsculpting.
There really is no one-size-fits-all solution for many skin care and anti-aging concerns. But that’s not a bad thing. In large part, it’s because we have so many incredible options available to us today. In our quickly advancing, high-technology field, instead of just choosing one option that makes a condition a little better, we can combine treatments to actually ameliorate a problem completely. Combining treatments has a synergistic effect and can achieve results never before seen.
Imagine an artist, mixing different paints, brushes and textures to get just the right color and effect. At New Life Aesthetics, we think of ourselves as artists – and you as a work of art.
With that idea in mind, let’s talk more about what is possible in today’s ever-evolving landscape of medical aesthetics.
Each medical aesthetic provider will have their own specialty combinations – that doesn’t mean the combination treatments aren’t legit just because you’ve never heard of them before. But it also doesn’t mean that anything goes. Expertise and long-term proficiency in the treatment modalities being combined is essential for safety and efficacy. Ask for before and after photos and testimonials from patients who have undergone the combination treatment before.
Some procedures don’t work well together, and only the most experienced providers know that.
But the creative flair practiced by medical aestheticians is a part of why combination treatments are so effective. Our long-term patients, for example, may inspire us to come up with new ideas as we learn more about existing and emerging treatments – and about your body. We invite you to schedule a consultation so we can take a look at your goals and arrive at a treatment plan designed just for you.
For instance, if you have a double chin, you might pair Kybella with CoolSculpting’s CoolMini applicator. Or we can mix cocktails of Platelet Rich Fibrin, dermal fillers and Botox to be used in microneedling procedures. Treatment combination options are endless.
Now, let’s broaden the scope of the discussion. Obviously, if one specific concern like a “turkey neck” or double chin can require a number of different procedures to address it properly, what about someone with a general concern like aging skin?
To address all of the issues (and various body parts) involved in aging skin, that patient would likely need a combination of multiple procedures like Skintyte, Subnovii, TRL, BBL, Halo, Vivace, and/or PRF in some combined fashion that is customized to their skin type, aging, and a myriad of other individual considerations.
There is also the question of which devices work best – and how to combine the right treatment with the right device. There are now even some new hybrid devices at the forefront of the market.
There are also new combination surgical options – or options where surgical procedures are strategically combined with medical aesthetics treatments. Though we don’t perform surgery, we certainly are willing to coordinate treatments with your surgeon. It’s important for you to know that these options exist, and even more combination surgical procedures are emerging on the horizon.
At New Life Aesthetics, we believe that coming up with the right options for you necessitates you knowing all your options.
But the most important combination in the field is this: the combination of you and the right medical aesthetics provider who understands your history and your hopes – and knows every aspect of what makes you the masterpiece that you are.
As with all things in life, timing is everything. Some combination treatments actually work better together. Other combination treatments work better when performed at different stages. Treatments that tighten the skin can be coupled with targeted wrinkle removal – at the same time – while other combination therapies might call for a little time between treatments. An experienced medical aesthetic provider will know what works best for you.
It’s especially important to coordinate timing if you are combining medical aesthetic treatments with surgical treatments. Having a trusted medical aesthetic provider who will coordinate with your surgeon or dermatologist is something your provider should be counted on to do.
Combination treatments don’t usually add to your recovery time, but actually can ease your recovery process. That’s partly because the equipment utilized in the procedures, like lasers, has evolved, but also because enhanced results from combo treatments means shortened recovery periods with each new treatment.
At New Life Aesthetics, we are constantly on the lookout for the newest, most innovative and effective treatments – and we always want to share the latest in what’s possible with you.
