SkinMedica® - Aging May Be Inevitable… But It Can Be Beautiful

      img

Aging is something that happens to us all. As our collagen production diminishes, skin will begin to thin, causing elasticity to decrease. This causes facial sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. SkinMedica® products are known to be scientifically formulated and clinically tested to revitalize skin and revive your skin’s youthful appearance. SkinMedica® products go to work the moment they are applied. After consistently using a daily regimen that includes our clinically-tested products, you’ll begin to see noticeable results. SkinMedica® chooses scientifically proven ingredients, such as growth factors and other compounds, to formulate advanced skin care products with antioxidants and retinoids that enhance the natural appearance of your skin by helping to prevent free radical damage.

All SkinMedica® products are part of a medically supervised skin care regimen. Meredith will customize the skincare regimen that will offer your skin support and continuous improvement before and after all in-office treatments.

      Medical Skin Peel

Chemical peels produce controlled injury to the skin, which promote growth of new skin and improved appearance. A variety of chemicals can be used as peeling agents and include glycolic, trichloroacetic (TCA), salicylic and resorcinol. The different chemical solutions produce different degrees of injury to the skin. Chemical peels are used for the treatment of photo-aging (from sun damage), wrinkles, scarring, acne, precancerous lesions, and discoloration (including melasma, freckles, and age spots).

      How Treatment Works

Once a thorough consultation addresses your questions and concerns and a plan of care is designed, treatment requires a short office visit to apply the peel. Down-time is dependent on the peel solution and the depth of penetration. The state of your skin after a peel depends on the type of chemical used and your skin type. Superficial peels have limited effects. Medium peels may cause some redness and the deeper peels may require 10-14 days to recover.

Generally chemical peels require a series of treatments to yield visible, long-lasting results. They may be done once every 4-24 weeks, until the desired results are achieved. With good sun protection, results can last months, even years. This is dependent upon the depth of the peel. The deeper peels generally provide a long-lasting effect.

      PRP

      img

Platelet Rich Plasma has long been used in the medical field of regenerative medicine, orthopedics, dentistry, neurology and is now gaining much respect in the world of medical aesthetics. Science supports the use of PRP for the augmentation and regeneration of hard and soft tissues. PRP is the source of concentrated platelet content present in blood. Apart from assisting blood clotting, platelets also release growth factors that assist the human body to repair itself by stimulating cells to regenerate new tissue. Today, platelet rich plasma can easily be separated from blood, through a process of centrifugation. Using your enriched plasma permits the body to heal faster and more efficiently.

PRP treatments require that Meredith obtain a small tube of your blood prior to use. Once it has been centrifuged, it can be applied topically during microneedling treatments and/or injected in areas of scar tissue or areas that need rejuvenation, hydration and/or volumization. Your PRP can be injected alone, or in combination with dermal filler treatments. PRP is excellent at accelerating wound healing, and rejuvenating the skin under treatment.

      How Treatment Works

Platelets release growth factors which initiate the healing cascade. Platelet Derived Growth Factors promote synthesis of the extracellular matrix. Transforming Growth Factors aid in synthesis of collagen. Epidermal Growth Factor assists in the proliferation and differentiation of epidermal cells. The Vascular Endothelial Growth Factors stimulate angiogenesis. All of these actions promote healthy, new, cellular growth.

What to Expect During Your Service

Meredith’s guest will receive a complete consultation prior to treatment and skincare for use at home will be prescribed to support the treatment regimen. A single tube of blood will be drawn and centrifuged for injection. PRP is a clear straw-colored liquid that can be topically applied during a microneedling treatment or injected into areas in need of rejuvenation. Very little discomfort is experienced during this process.
